🦞 Opus Reasoning Collapse Accelerates

Plus: Mythos Mysterious Gap, 4.7 and 4.8 Just Dropped

Good Morning, OpenClaw Owners!

Opus contracts while Mythos stretches the frontier, OpenClaw expands execution into reality

Opus Reasoning Collapse Accelerates

TLDR: Recent analysis shows Opus reasoning depth has dropped by up to 67%, with thinking chains shrinking from ~2200 to under 700 characters. Behavior has shifted from deliberate planning to shortcut execution, with clear increases in errors, reversals, and premature task completion.

Based on the MyClaw team’s last 24-hour evaluation, the degradation has intensified further. For more stable agent performance, it is recommended to switch to GPT 5.4.

This follows Anthropic’s familiar pre-release pattern. Mythos is likely approaching, while Opus 4.6, much like Opus 4.5 before it, will eventually be phased out.

Mythos Mysterious Gap

TL;DR: Anthropic’s Claude Mythos Preview pulls far ahead of Opus 4.6 on agent benchmarks, hitting 77.8 vs 53.4 on SWE-bench Pro and leading across terminal, multimodal, and computer-use tasks. The jump points to stronger multi-step execution, not just better reasoning. Opus already leads in OpenClaw, and Mythos looks like a further leap—but there’s a real chance this gap is inflated. It may be comparing a fully unlocked Mythos against a constrained, safety-throttled Opus 4.6. Whether the advantage holds in real products remains to be seen.

OpenClaw 4.7 and 4.8 Just Dropped

TL;DR: OpenClaw v2026.4.7 introduces a unified inference CLI, adds music/video editing, enables webhook-driven TaskFlows, expands model support, and upgrades memory with memory-wiki for structured, persistent knowledge. Soon after release, users reported an issue with extension loading, and the team quickly shipped 4.8 to fix a packaging bug and update the release verification process.

Highlights from this release:

  • đź”® openclaw infer — unified CLI for model, image, audio, video, web, embeddings
  • 🎬 Music + video editing
  • đź’ľ Session branch / restore
  • đź”— Webhook-driven TaskFlows (external systems can trigger agents)
  • 🤖 New models: Arcee, Gemma 4, Ollama vision
  • 🧠 memory-wiki — structured, persistent knowledge with evidence + freshness tracking

Agents can now handle both lightweight and heavy workloads through a unified inference layer.

Also, Compared to 4.5, Dreaming now learns from session logs too; not just memory files. Your OpenClaw can now dream bigger.

MyClaw has completed testing for version 4.8 and rolled it out. Existing users can upgrade with one click, and all new instances now default to version 4.8.

Summarize 0.13 Expands

TL;DR: Peter Steinberger released Summarize v0.13, updating the CLI tool for turning videos, webpages, reddit and other media into summaries. The release adds local video slide support, more model backends including GitHub Copilot, and better GPT-5.4 handling. It also brings OpenClaw in as a configurable CLI backend, while making installation easier through an official Homebrew formula.

Train OpenClaw Your "Voice"

TL;DR: A developer outlines a step-by-step tutorial to make OpenClaw write exactly like you by extracting your tweet history via the Twitter API, analyzing patterns in vocabulary, tone, and structure, then building a precise “voice skill.” Continuous real-world corrections refine accuracy over time, turning generic outputs into writing that closely matches your personal style.

OpenClaw Controls Real Phones

TL;DR: A developer released a free OpenClaw skill that enables agents to take full control of a nearby consenting Android phone over Wi-Fi, allowing them to mimic real human interactions across apps. He notes Android’s barriers required workarounds, while more advanced use cases like TikTok automation remain private due to platform-specific anti-bot protections.
