🦞 OpenClaw 2.0 Lands on MyClaw

Good Morning, Agent Owners!
We wanted AI that could act in the real world. The real world has responded with compliance departments and mountain rescue.
OpenClaw 2.0 Lands on MyClaw

OpenClaw 2.0 (v2026.8.2) is one of the project’s biggest upgrades yet. Rather than just adding another batch of features, it noticeably restructures and strengthens the overall agent experience: more capable, more persistent, smoother to work with, and safer around long-running tasks and real-world execution.
But the upgrade itself has been painful for some self-hosted users. Across X and community discussions, longtime OpenClaw users have reported broken gateways, failed migrations and systems becoming unusable after upgrading. It is a reminder that running an open-source agent stack yourself can still mean debugging dependencies, plugins, configs and migrations when a major release lands.
The MyClaw team spent the past few days adapting and validating OpenClaw 2.0 across our hosted environment so users do not have to deal with that migration work themselves. OpenClaw 2.0 is now fully supported on MyClaw, and existing users can log in and complete the upgrade with a seamless one-click update.
Gemini Sends Climbers Off Course

TL;DR: Three novice California climbers were rescued from Mount Shasta after relying heavily on Google Gemini to plan their route, food and water. They summited late, wandered off-route, lost phone navigation and ran short on supplies before calling rescuers. Rangers said AI-assisted trip planning is becoming a growing problem as chatbots can provide dangerously inaccurate wilderness guidance. Read more →
Discovery Bank Claims 500% AI ROI

TL;DR: South Africa’s Discovery Bank says its AI system has delivered more than 500% ROI by using customer behavior to personalize offers, detect fraud, assess credit and handle service queries. It sped data pipelines 20-fold and prevented about $6 million in fraud, contrasting sharply with firms expecting five to six years for full AI payback. Read more →
AI Makes Small Trade Loans Viable

TL;DR: FinTechs including Comfi, Hokodo and Treyd are using AI to automate invoice and transaction analysis, aiming to make small trade loans profitable where traditional underwriting costs were too high. The opportunity is huge: the global trade-finance gap reached $2.5 trillion in 2025. But the real test is whether faster AI underwriting can identify good borrowers without simply increasing credit losses. Read more →
Gemini 3.8 Loses the Value Fight

TL;DR: Google launched Gemini 3.8 Flash just 20 days after 3.7, improving coding, agentic work and multi-step reasoning while costing about one-fifth of GPT-5.6 Sol. But its pricing is now close to DeepSeek V4 Pro, which still performs better on key coding and agent benchmarks. MyClaw already supports V4 Pro, and it’s available to use now. Read more →
Instagram Demotes Undisclosed AI Profiles

TL;DR: Instagram will reduce the reach of profiles featuring AI-generated people unless creators clearly label them as “AI-generated profiles.” The policy targets accounts that appear human but are substantially AI-created, while ordinary AI editing does not require disclosure. Instagram says labeled accounts will not be penalized, responding to growing backlash over deceptive AI influencers, including health and dating profiles. Read more →
FTC Targets Deliberately Misleading AI

TL;DR: The FTC is proposing to treat undisclosed “suppression of accuracy” as consumer deception when AI companies deliberately steer outputs toward goals other than accuracy. The proposal distinguishes intentional steering from ordinary hallucinations, but offers no clear technical test for proving the difference. Public comments closed July 31, and the agency has not yet finalized the policy. Read more →
