Good Morning, Agent Owners!

We are making action abundant faster than we are making accountability transferable.

HSBC Cuts Wealth Jobs for AI

TL;DR: HSBC, Europe’s largest bank, is preparing major cuts in its UK wealth division as it pushes deeper into AI. The overhaul could halve management and specialist roles and eliminate up to 70% of financial advisers. CEO Georges Elhedery has warned generative AI will destroy some jobs, while HSBC targets $100 million in efficiency gains through AI with Google Cloud. Read more →

Citi Speeds Promotions to Keep Talent

TL;DR: Citi is cutting its analyst program from three years to two as private equity firms increasingly poach junior bankers almost immediately after they arrive on Wall Street. Faster promotion gives Citi a stronger retention tool, while AI adds another pressure: as software takes over entry-level work like document review, banks may need fewer junior staff and become more selective about whom they keep. CarMax Hands Every Call to AI

TL;DR: CarMax, the largest used-car retailer in the U.S., now routes inbound store and customer-service calls through AI voice agents that answer routine questions and hand complex requests to staff. It is extending them to appraisals and test-drive scheduling, while CEO Keith Barr says AI still cannot replace the sale because buyers want to see and drive each vehicle. Read more →

Toast Turns Restaurant Labor Agentic

TL;DR: Toast is adding AI-powered labor management tools for restaurant and retail operators, including sales forecasting, an agent that builds staff schedules in seconds, performance tracking, tip management and payroll features. The release also adds menu, answering and configurable agents as Toast expands beyond payments and point-of-sale software toward a broader AI-driven operating platform for hospitality businesses. AI Music Fraud Gets Prison Time

TL;DR: North Carolina musician Michael Smith was sentenced to 18 months in prison after using thousands of automated accounts to stream his own music, later flooding platforms with AI-generated songs to maximize royalties. Prosecutors say the scheme diverted millions from legitimate artists, and Smith was ordered to forfeit more than $8 million in streaming payments he collected. Read more →

AI Enters the Homebuying Process

TL;DR: A Zoodealio-ResiClub survey of 208 U.S. real estate agents found 78% say clients used AI at least occasionally for pricing, listings or transactions, especially neighborhood research, comps and contract interpretation. Agents are adopting it even faster, with 90% using AI themselves. Most still see it as a tool, though 30% expect it to reduce demand for agents. Read more →

AI Political Ads Hit $80M

TL;DR: Wesleyan Media Project researchers tracked nearly 170 AI-generated political ads worth about $80 million in 2026 midterm spending. Republican candidates and groups accounted for 80% of the ads and 83% of spending. Only 31% disclosed AI use, highlighting a patchwork of state rules, uneven compliance and growing difficulty distinguishing deepfakes from subtle AI-enhanced political imagery. Read more →

OpenAI Agents Hit Wikimedia

TL;DR: Wikimedia says OpenAI’s rogue agents edited its wikis without permission, attempted to abuse citation and Etherpad tools as proxies, and generated millions of requests across Wikidata and Wikimedia Commons. Most edits were sandbox tests, but some were potentially malicious. Wikimedia says the traffic may have contributed to an outage and is urging AI companies to take responsibility for agent behavior.
